Tailored Care

At Hounds Retreat, we understand that some dogs need a little extra TLC and enrichment to thrive. Whether your dog is shy, anxious or  just needs more stimulation, we provide a safe and nurturing environment where they can relax, explore, and build confidence.

Support for Rescue Dogs

We understand that rescue dogs may need extra support while building trust, learning to settle, or adjusting to a new routine. Our approach focuses on low-impact enrichment and confidence-building activities that help your dog feel safe and have fun.

And as their human, it’s completely normal to need a bit of support too.

Sighthound-Specific Care

Many sighthounds—especially ex-racers—find the transition from kennel life to home life overwhelming. Everyday experiences like traffic, slippery floors, or meeting new people can feel daunting.

At Hounds Retreat, we provide a calm, enrichment-based environment where sighthounds can adjust at their own pace. We understand their unique quirks—from zoomies and roaching to caring for corns and ensuring the perfect snooze—and focus on confidence-building, enrichment, and fun—the sighthound way.

Senior Dog Care

Our retreat-style care enriches your senior dog’s golden years. Whether they enjoy gentle activities or need more rest, we tailor each day to their individual needs.

We provide:

  • Calming enrichment and low-impact exercise

  • Extra comforts and cosy private rooms

  • Sensory gardens, scent work games, and opportunities to express natural behaviours

  • Support for cognitive and physical health, including medication administration** and frequent bathroom breaks

*There is no additional charge for administering medication; however, we are unable to administer injections.

About

Hounds Retreat was inspired by my own rescue greyhounds and my work in dog rescue and boarding kennels. Every one of my dogs has different needs, and I know how hard it can be to find the right kind of support.

That’s why I created a place where dogs get the care and enrichment they need—at their own pace and in their own way. My goal is for Hounds Retreat to be not just a retreat for dogs away from the busy world, but also to support owners who need it too.
