FAQ

1. Is it okay if my dog doesn’t interact with other dogs?
Yes. Some dogs prefer solo time due to age, anxiety, health, or past experiences. We tailor care to each dog’s needs, focusing on comfort, enrichment, and positive experiences without the pressure of socialising.

2. Do you offer dog playgroups or social time?
Not at this time. We focus on individual care. If a dog is doing well and could benefit, we may offer calm, one-on-one introductions—but only if it supports their wellbeing and is a good fit.

3. Will my dog get enough exercise without group play?
Absolutely! We offer activities like sniffaris, puzzle games, digging pits, toys, scentwork games, and one-on-one play. Quiet rest time is also key for their well-being.

4. What if my dog doesn’t adjust well ?
We work at your dog’s pace, using positive reinforcement to build confidence. If solo care isn’t the right fit, we’re happy to suggest alternatives like  dog walkers, trainers, or home boarding.

5. Can I bring my dog’s food and medication?
Yes. You’re welcome to bring their regular food. Medications must be in original packaging with vet instructions. We don’t administer injections, and a medication form is required.

6. Will my dog be completely isolated from other dogs?
No. While we don’t offer direct group play, dogs will see others during their day. This helps reduce stress while still giving them a calm, social environment.

7. How do you tailor care for my dog?
We consider your dog’s age, energy, health, and personality. Activities are adjusted to suit their needs.

8. Do I get updates?
Yes! You’ll receive updates by text or email, plus weekly highlights on our Facebook page so you can see what happening at Hounds Retreat.

9. How many days should my dog attend?
That depends on your dog and your schedule. After a successful meet-and-greet, you can book sessions. We may suggest more frequent visits at first to help your dog settle in.

10. What vaccinations and health requirements do you have?
All dogs must be up to date with  vaccinations, including protection against parasites (worming, flea, and tick treatments). The kennel cough vaccine is  recommended. We may ask for proof of vaccinations prior to your dog’s first visit.
